The team needs parent volunteers to help lead team rides.  Team rides take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4:45 pm-6:30 pm and Saturday mornings 9am-12pm.  You don't need to be in incredibly good shape, we have ride leaders and ride sweeps in all levels; we just ask that you can join us at most practices.

Ride volunteer qualifications
In order to be a ride leader or sweep you will need to be a level one coach.  The requirements are minimal but required.  You are NOT required to attend races; we just need you at practice.  See the following link for requirements.  NICA Level 1  Please contact Coach Freeman if you are interested in learning more.  

Ride Volunteer (NICA Level 1) As a Ride Volunteer, you ride with the Ride Leader and the team, and guide and encourage riders. As a Ride Volunteer, you must be covered under the team’s insurance policy, which requires you to do the following:

• Sign up on NICA Pit Zone website (Contact Coach Freeman for an invite)
• Complete all items required on pitzone to be certified Level 1

Responsibilities:

• Keep track of the # of riders in the group
• Maintain safe rider speed
• Ride volunteers/leaders should always lead descents to moderate group speed
• Help coaches control the group riding on paved roads
• Communicate with the coaches during or after the ride about how the group did – who excelled, who needed encouragement
• Help riders with mechanical issues
• Report dangerous or inappropriate behavior
• Facilitate rider inclusion wherever possible, and engage riders in conversation.
