Albert Sanchez Coach, Level 2 certified
Albert Sanchez left road biking and his urban environment behind when he discovered the joys of mountain biking in the North State. A Shasta County resident for 10 years, Albert has increasingly dedicated his time and efforts to mountain biking in this area, including service as board member and vice-president of the Redding Mountain Biking Club, conducting the Beginner Classes for RMB, and assisting in organizing the Lemurian Mountain Bike Race, Take A Kid Mountain Biking, and other local events. A desire to share his mountain biking skills and bring more young people out to enjoy the Shasta County trails led him to immediately accept Hilari Freeman’s offer to help her coach the Redding Composite MTB Team. Karl Hankins Coach, Level 2 certified
Karl works for Sierra Pacific Industries on the web team, having moved to rural Shasta county in 2006. He has always owned and ridden motorcycles, but started riding mountain bikes in 2016 and really got hooked. While his daughters were in school he was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer in their classes and help with team sports that they played. Now he feels lucky to be able to blend a MTB addiction with the joy of volunteering for Redding Composite! Redding has an amazing trail system that can only be seen by pausing the social media and getting outdoors. ¨It’s great to see so many kids get involved in the sport. What a fun way to stay in shape, develop skills and enjoy the comrade of the team.¨

Jim Dobbs Coach, Level 3 certified
Jim, a design engineer with AT&T, moved to Redding in 2004 to raise his family and immediately fell in love with mountain biking. Although he grew up riding BMX bikes in Sacramento, Jim quickly became a mountain biking enthusiast when moving to the Redding area. After a move to Colorado with his wife and two children for three years, the hills surrounding Redding lined with single tracks called his family back home where he could again enjoy riding but this time in a climate far more ideal for his passion. He began volunteering with the mountain biking team in 2018, and has also been a volunteer with local trail maintenance and helped build Caldwell Jr. Bike Park. Jim has also been volunteering or racing the Lemurian since 2004. Having discovered the great culture that the mountain biking community provides, he wants to bring this same positive energy to the High School Mountain Biking Team.

Steve Pendergast Coach, Level 1 certified
Steve started playing with bicycles at a very young age, and he never stopped! His Dad showed him the basics about bike maintenance and then he started tearing apart his bicycle to learn how everything worked and how it all went back together. This grew into a passion and before he knew it he was working at his local bike shop in Portland where he moved up to manager. He moved to Redding with his wife in 1997 and it quickly became home. Both their sons are on the team (one raced for three years and the other is starting his second year) - their whole family loves to ride! He enjoys encouraging the team's riders, watching them improve their skills, and seeing them overcome challenges.
